About Dr. Scott Schoeman

Scott graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2011.

He completed his Gastroenterology training in South Australia and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2018.

He then undertook advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowships at Royal Perth Hospital in Western Australia, Westmead Hospital in New South Wales and St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Here he specialised in endoscopic procedures including:

ERCP
Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)
Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)
Per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM)

Additionally, Scott also offers expert and up to date care in general Gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease.

Interests

Scott currently holds a staff specialist position in the Gastroenterology department at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Since returning to Adelaide he has established the department's third space endoscopy service, specialising in the management of early gastrointestinal cancers.

Scott's private Gastroenterology service is based at East Adelaide Medical Centre, with endoscopic procedures and inpatient care at St. Andrew's Hospital.

He also has a passion for education and quality improvement, overseeing Gastroenterology training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and a faculty member of the Recertification in Colonoscopy Conjoint Committee.

Research

Scott remains active in research, having published multiple papers in peer-review journals and presents at a variety of workshops and conferences.
